There's something about the smell of a fresh Christmas tree that really puts me in the festive spirit. Each year my family and I go to our local nursery and choose a tree together. If you want to keep your tree looking good all through the festive period, here's what to do.
Time: 1 hour
Materials
Handsaw
Stanley knife
Water
Method
Use a handsaw to cut an inch off the bottom of the tree.
Score the bark around the stump with a Stanley knife.
Place your tree in a water tight container and place in a cool spot away from hot radiators.
Fill the container with water and keep topped up on a regular basis. A Christmas tree could soak up at least a pint of water everyday.
Let the tree settle of an hour before decorating. It will take time for the branches to relax and adjust to their new environment and the temperature of the room.
