Some women don't like the summer because the weather is too hot and they dislike the heat that makes them sweat and feel uncomfortable. While others can't wait go bathe in the sun. To survive the hot temperatures, one of the things you can do is wear clothes made from light materials, that are not hugging your body but hanging loosely instead and dresses will save you a lot of trouble.
What to look for?
Summer dresses should be easy to wear and comfortable. Typically they don't have sleeves but this depends on who you ask, because many can have sleeves but not too long like over the elbow. It should be long enough to cover you up without you having to pull it down every couple of minutes. Online stores are a good place to start because they offer a wide array of summer dresses so you can find many more styles and different colours than in any store. As far as style it should be causal enough that you could wear during the day and still dressy enough so that you could hit the town with your friends by adding a few accessories. When talking about length anything goes, you can go for a long maxi dress and a shorter dress as well.
Material is the most important part of a maxi dress. Always choose natural fibres especially in the summer. Natural fibres allow the skin to breathe, absorb moisture allowing sweat to evaporate, don't cause irritations and discomfort. Avoid wool and silk, they retain heat and silk isn't a durable it gets damaged by the sun and perspiration.
Cotton is always a good choice because keeps you cool allowing the air to pass through and absorbs moisture. When choosing any type of summer clothes make sure the cotton is thin.
Linen is comfortable, keeps you cool and is absorbent. Unlike cotton is dries quickly but it wrinkles easily.
Rayon isn't a completely natural fabric. It's made from natural fibre that is chemically treated to be suitable clothes material. But still it very comfortable to wear and suitable for hot weather.
You can do whatever you want the rules are simple:
For a day look go for larger bags like tote bags and avoid big, heavy jewellery it will just make you hot and uncomfortable. During the day you should wear flats like sandals, thongs, summer sneakers, espadrilles or gladiator sandals. And large hats go well with summer dresses.
If you want to wear your summer dress to go out accessorise like you normally would a small clutch, statement jewellery, small inconspicuous jewellery though these depend on the style and colours of the dress. In this occasion it is appropriate to wear shoes like high heels to give a little glamour to your summer dress.
