There's something very festive about the smell of spices at Christmas and for years, orange pomanders have been made a displayed in European houses at Christmas. Using this as inspiration, I made the simplified version of an orange pomander into a candle holder.
Time: 10 minutes
Materials Large firm, thick skin orange
Handful of cloves
Tea light candle
Slice off the top of the orange.
Scoop out some of the flesh, to the depth of your tea light candle.
Using a skewer, pierce holes in the skin of the orange. You can create any design you like. I decided to go for simple stripes.
Insert a clove into each hole you have created. The smell is wonderful.
Place your tea light candle into the hollow you have created and light.
