Sounds too good to be true? Read on and you will soon discover how easy it is to make sidewalk paint that will keep boredom at bay, the kids entertained and your sidewalk beautifully decorated.
Time: 5 minutes
Muffin tin or containers
Note: A muffin tin works well to mix up multiple colours of paint. Alternatively, you can use any container.
To make the paint you will need equal parts corn starch and water. For a muffin tin, add 1 tablespoon corn starch to each hole.
Put a few drops of food colouring into each hole. Adding more food colouring will give you a more vibrant colour.
Some simple colour combinations:
- Yellow Red = ORANGE
- Red Blue = VIOLET or PURPLE
- Blue Yellow = GREEN
- Yellow Orange = YELLOW-ORANGE
- Red Orange = RED-ORANGE
- Red Violet = RED-VIOLET
- Blue Violet = BLUE-VIOLET
- Blue Green = BLUE-GREEN
- Yellow Green = YELLOW-GREEN
Add a tablespoon of water to each hole and mix thoroughly.
Go outside and create your artwork! The paint finish is similar to using sidewalk chalk.
Clean-up is easy. Any leftover paint can be stored in an airtight container for later use. Wash the muffin tins and brushes with cold water. Unlike acrylic paints which contain chemicals, this all natural paint can be washed down the drain and will not harm children, plants or the water system.
You can leave your sidewalk artworks to fade over time or use water to wash away.
