Saving your passwords in Firefox can be a huge time-saver, it can also be a huge inconvenience if you need a saved password that you can’t remember or if a have to change a password. This tutorial will teach where those passwords are stored, how to retrieve a password or remove a saved password.

A Macintosh computer running OSx

Open Firefox

Click on Firefox on the top left and go to Preferences

Firefox, security, preferences

Click on the Security tab of the Preferences box

Click on the “Saved Passwords” box at the bottom of the Security tab. This will open a new box.

Firefox, security, preferences

All of the saved passwords and usernames are located in this box. From here you can remove all saved passwords by clicking the “Remove All” button or you can remove a single password by searching for a particular website, selecting it and clicking on “Remove”.

Firefox, security, preferences

If you wish to retrieve a password, you can do so by clicking on “Show Passwords” button on the bottom right of the Saved Passwords box. A pop-up will ask you if you are sure, click yes and then search for the desired password in the list.
